The Korean Patent Attorneys Association (KPAA) has elected a new President Mr. Kwang-Ku Ahn, and the KPAA now has mandatory membership for Patent Attorneys in Korea.
Mr. Kwang-Ku Ahn was a senior advisor for YOU ME Patent & Law Firm before he was elected as the President, and has previously served as the Commissioner of the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), in addition to earlier serving as the Vice-Minister, and then Minister for the Department of Industry and Resources. Mr. Ahn will provide the KPAA with strong leadership, having distinguished experience in both the public and private sectors of Intellectual Property in Korea. This appointment demonstrates the commitment to the continued development of IP law in Korea and abroad.
The KPAA, whose membership was previously voluntary, now has mandatory membership for all Patent Attorneys in Korea. This change will ensure the contribution of the entire Patent Attorney community in aiding the overall development of IP in Korea, and internationally.
