YOU ME Attorney News 1) Managing Partner, Mr. Man-Ho Song receives Contribution to Industry Award At the 60th Anniversary of the Korean Patent Attorney¡¯s Association (KPAA), held September 6, 2006, at the Seoul Grand Intercontinental Hotel, Managing Partner Mr. Man-Ho Song received the KPAA Contribution to Industry Award. After being admitted to the patent bar in 1984, Mr. Song not only joined YOU ME as a co-founder in 1988, but was also the director of the KPAA and a leading member of the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO). Currently, Mr. Song is an active member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and participates in legal consultations regarding international intellectual property rights in Korea. He is also on the FTA committee, the International Intellectual Property Committee and is the deputy director of the Korean Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). Mr. Song¡¯s continued efforts to improve intellectual property rights and awareness in Korea have rightly earned him the honor of receiving the Contribution to Industry Award. 2) Patent Attorney Mr. Ju-Hyun Song elected for Business Cooperation Committee An appointment ceremony was held on November 2, 2006, for Patent Attorney Mr. Ju-Hyun Song, who was recently invited to sit on the Large, Medium and Small Sized Business Cooperation Committee. Established in 2004, this Committee aims to offer consultation sessions for Korean companies of all sizes to discuss the state of national and international markets, to offer advice on new technology and incentives, and most importantly to encourage companies to embrace a global vision. With 30 years of experience as a patent examiner for KIPO, Mr. Song will be a valuable asset in leading intellectual property consultations.
